The personality assessment built with a 1996 Olympian , now open to 15 U.S. soccer programs.
Co-developed with Dr. Andrea Wieland , former Head of Mental Conditioning at IMG Academy and former Associate AD for Sports Performance at Penn. Walk into preseason knowing what motivates each player, who clashes, and who's drifting toward burnout , before the first whistle.
Why this pilot — in Andrea's words
In thirty years working with Olympians, NCAA programs, and the staff at IMG Academy, the through-line is the same: coaches who understand who their athletes are — not just how they perform — get more out of them, retain them longer, and lose fewer to burnout. SportDNA gives soccer coaches that lens in a measurable, repeatable form. The pilot is how we prove it in your program first.

What this solves
Three soccer-specific problems no playbook fixes
From preseason captain selection to midseason chemistry drift — the patterns coaches see every season, finally measurable.
Preseason: you're guessing on captains
Your loudest player isn't always your best leader. Without a framework for drive, social style, and decision-making, captain selection is a gut call that often costs you by week six.
Midseason: the locker room splinters
Two strong personalities clashing on the same back line. A quiet midfielder shrinking when the team needs voice. Friction patterns are predictable — if you can see them before they affect a result.
End of season: you can't tell who'll be back
Perfectionism, identity overload, transfer-portal restlessness — these surface in personality data months before they show up in conversations. By the time a player tells you, the decision is usually made.
What you'll actually see
The coach dashboard, in three pieces
Built for Monday-morning use. Not a 40-page report, not a clinical write-up — a working tool you'll open between training sessions.
1. Team roster — at a glance
Every athlete's sport profile, color-coded by group.
2. Chemistry matrix
Pairing heatmap. High-friction pairs flag in red before they affect a result.
3. Captain & leadership briefs
Per-athlete profile sheets you can hand a player one-on-one.

The questions every coach has
If yours isn't here, book the 15-minute walkthrough — Andrea or Vladimir will answer it on the call.
How much time does this take from my staff?
Athletes complete the SportDNA assessment in 8–12 minutes on their phones, anytime. The 6 supplemental tests are 4–7 minutes each. Your only required commitment is one 60-minute coach consultation (or two, for 10-Month Access). No paperwork. No proctoring.
Who delivers the coach consultations — and does my program get direct access to Dr. Wieland?
Coach and captain consultations are delivered by Vladimir Novkov, the SportDNA framework lead. Dr. Wieland is the academic co-PI on the validation study and a credentialing partner — she is not on call for individual program consults, and the pilot does not include 1-on-1 work with her for coaches, athletes, or parents. If your program needs licensed clinical support, we’ll refer out to Dr. Wieland's practice or another licensed provider separately.
Is this a clinical or mental-health screening?
No. SportDNA is a performance-psychology framework — not a clinical diagnostic. Dr. Wieland is a licensed psychologist and is available for referral if an athlete needs clinical support, but the dashboard is built for coaching decisions, not therapy.
What about athlete privacy and consent?
Every athlete signs a digital informed-consent form before taking the assessment. Personal results are visible only to the athlete and to coaches they explicitly authorize. Aggregate data used in the test-retest research is fully anonymized. We follow standard FERPA practices for school programs and can sign program-specific data agreements.
What's the test-retest validation study?
Pilot teams take the assessment at preseason and again mid-season. Dr. Wieland (as Co-PI) and Vladimir analyze stability of the four pillars — this is what makes the instrument research-grade. Your program gets a free copy of the eventual paper, plus a custom team report.
What if it doesn't work for my program?
Within the first 30 days, if you don't see practical value from the dashboard, we'll refund the pilot fee. We'd rather you walk away than stay frustrated — the case-study evidence we need from this cohort only works if coaches genuinely want to use the tool.
Can parents and assistant coaches take it too?
Yes. The Founding Pilot packages include up to 30 individuals — we recommend using a few seats for assistants and (for HS programs) team parents. Coaches consistently say it changes the tone of parent-side conversations during a tough stretch.
